Important Change in VA Healthcare Eligibility

Many more veterans are now eligible for healthcare

The VA announced this week that net worth will no longer be a consideration for healthcare benefit eligibility. Household income is a still a consideration for veterans who do not possess an enhanced status such as recently returned veterans, service connected veterans and veterans with presumptive exposures like Agent Orange. According to VA officials, this will make approximately 190,000 previous denied veterans eligible.

Veterans without enhanced status need to meet the following household income thresholds in our district:

Veteran Alone: $52,195

Veteran and Spouse: $59,620

Household of Three: $67,100

Household of Four: $74525

We highly recommend applying for VA Healthcare if you meet the eligibility requirements. The highly rated New England VA Healthcare system allows veterans access to care for their service-connected disabilities and qualifies as full insurance coverage under Massachusetts tax law. Additionally, with just one appointment a year, veterans can retain access to crucial care later in life when families are searching for medical options.

We also know the application process can be confusing. We are available to assist with the process and when necessary, provide transportation and on-site assistance.
