First, find your local RMV branch location.
Next, bring proof of veteran status (DD214 with honorable service) to your local RMB branch.
If your registration is not up for renewal, you will need to pay a fee to have the license reissued, but once vetted by the RMV, your veteran designation will remain as long as you want it.
The designation is helpful and practical. Since the RMV must confirm your veteran status, local business offering veteran discounts can be assured your license offers proof of status. Additionally, adding the designation can help emergency responders and local officials (if necessary) identify the best benefits available to you as a veteran.
While discounts and local offers are not the primary reason for adding the designation to your license, many restaurants and business offer special discounts to veterans on our November 11th holiday. Putting these seven important letters on your license will help you celebrate your service with a community that supports you.
